Terms for using FX Licence Check South Africa

What this site is, how it is paid for, and what it does not promise.

Who pays for this site

Some outbound links to brokers are partner links: if you open an account through one, we may be paid by the broker. No extra payment is required from you, and the payment alters nothing on this site. The register extract comes as a copy from the regulator, and no firm can pay for inclusion in it, for removal from it or for its status to be described differently.

Each partner link carries a sponsored marking in the markup and is placed behind a label stating its destination. Editorial placement is not for sale here, and we do not rank brokers.

Accuracy and its boundaries

Registers change daily, brokers change their terms, and a page is a snapshot of the day it was written. To let you check it at the source, the only current version, we date our published material and say where it came from.

It is not warranted by us that the site is complete, free of errors or uninterrupted. Where a figure matters to a decision about money, check it against the FSCA register or the broker's own documents before you act on it.

The site is a snapshot dated on the page. Check at the source whenever a figure makes a decision about money.

The risk of trading

Leveraged forex and CFD trading can lose you more than a small share of your deposit, quickly. Most retail accounts lose money. A firm holding a licence is supervised; your money is not thereby safe from trading losses, and no page on this site should be read as suggesting it is.

The question of a position going against you is not the same as supervision and solvency. A FSCA licence speaks to how a firm must hold client money, report and handle complaints; it says nothing about the market. The arithmetic below is the part that decides how long a position survives, and it is the same at every broker: leverage sets the margin, and the margin sets how small a move takes it.

A number is never quietly edited to leave the page looking as though it always said that.

Other sites, other rules

We link to regulators, exchanges, central banks and brokers. We do not control those sites, their published content is not our responsibility, and a link should not be read as an endorsement, particularly not a link to a warning about a firm.

The links that matter most here are the ones to the FSCA register and to a broker's own terms, because those are the documents that decide the question, and ours is only a reading of them. Wherever this site departs from the source, the source is correct, and we would like you to let us know.

What you may do with this

Read it, print it, quote it with a link back. Republishing whole pages as your own is not permitted, and scraping the site to rebuild it elsewhere is not permitted either. The extracts from the register come from public records and are owned by nobody; our own writing surrounds them.

Read this as information

Everything on FX Licence Check South Africa is general information about how forex trading and broker licensing work in South Africa. It is neither financial advice, nor a recommendation, nor an offer. We do not know your income, your obligations or your tolerance for loss, and nothing here is adjusted to them.

Giving investment advice in South Africa is a regulated activity. We are unlicensed for it and do not carry it on. If you want advice, take it from someone the FSCA authorises to give it.
